MAY 17, 2010– Another unit of the Light Armor Division was born pursuant to SEC 1 GO Nr 324 HPA dated 03 May 2010 effective 16 April 2010. The 1st Mechanized
Infantry Brigade (Provisional) is located at the former location of the 2nd Light Armor Battalion at Rajah Buayan, General Santos City. The said unit was activated primarily to have a better Command and Control among the four-line battalions in Mindanao area. With its activation, the 2nd Light Armor Battalion was unfilled to filled-up the personnel and equipment requirements of the newly activated brigade and the 23rd Light Armor Company was renamed into 2nd Armored Cavalry Troop (2ACT).
The “Activation Ceremony” was held at Headquarters Light Armor Division. LTGEN RODRIGO F MACLANG AFP, Vice Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines and former commander of the Light Armor Brigade, served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker during the said ceremony and it was also witnessed by MGEN SAMUEL D NARCISE, AFP Commander, LAD. LTGEN MACLANG emphasized the importance of good working relationship towards the achievement of such mandated mission. Furthermore, he appreciated the unwavering support of the Philippine Army and higher authorities for the timely and immediate activation of the 101st Mechanized (Maasahan) Brigade (Provisional) and the unending support of the Higher Headquarters to the Officers, Men and Women of the Light Armor Division.

MAYORALGO M DELA CRUZ (CAV) PA, the former Chief of Staff was designated
as the first Brigade Commander. Other
competent officers of the Light Armor Division were assigned to
1st
Mech Bde to complete the Brigade Staff. COL LEODEGARIO DELA PAZ (CAV) PA,
the former G4,LAD was designated as the Deputy Brigade Commander and SMS
Francisco T. Gabinera Jr. was designated as the
Brigade Sgt. Major.
Imbued with utmost dedication, competence and remarkable experience in
every designated assignments, the officers, men and women of 1st
Mechanized
Infantry
Brigade will certainly bring glory to the Division by making
the brigade as one of the best Brigades of the Philippine Army.
