Brigadier
General Carlos Estur Luces AFP is the 3rd Commanding General of the
Light Armor Division, Philippine Army. He earned his Bachelor of Science
degree from the Philippine Military Academy and was commissioned as 2nd
Lieutenant in the Philippine Army in 1979. He had undergone
numerous military schooling both local and abroad such as the Armor
Officer Basic Course, Human Rights Advocacy Course, Basic Airborne
Course, Pre-command Course for Battalion Commanders and Command and
General Staff Course from the Philippine Army. He is a graduate of Human
Rights in Modern Peacekeeping Course at Pearson, Peace Keeping Center
Canada. Armor Officer Advance Course at the US Army Armor School, The
Asia Pacific Security Studies Executive Course at Asia-Pacific Center
for Security Studies, Hawaii, USA. BGEN LUCES earned his Masters in
Public Management at the University of the Philippines in 2002.
Early in his career, he served as Platoon Leader of the 1st
Platoon, Bravo Company, 35IB, 3ID, PA in 1979 in Visayas. Company
Commander of Alpha Company, 35 IB, 3ID, PA in 1984. Commandant of Armor
Service Extension School, LABde, PA in 1994. Battalion Commander of
4th Light Armor Battalion, LABde, PA in 1995. Chief of
Staff of 9th Infantry Division, PA in 2003. Brigade Commander
of 902nd Infantry Brigade, 9ID, PA IN 2007. Last 22 May 2010,
the command of Light Armor Division was entrusted to his care.
Brigadier General Luces is a recipient of numerous military awards and
decorations both in combat and admin such as (21) Military Merit Medal,
Military Civic Action Medal, Mindanao - Sulu Campaign Medal and Ribbon,
Visayas Anti - Dissidence Campaign Medal and Ribbon, Luzon Anti -
Dissidence Campaign Medal and Ribbon, Long Service Medal, The Silver
Jubilarian Award, Distinguished Service Star, and various Military
Commendation Medals and numerous Letters of Commendation.
Brigadier General Luces is happily married to the former Miss Olive
Mercado of Cotabato City and blessed with two kids namely: Kristine and
Carl Oliver.
