Introduction

As the Light Armor Division celebrates its first Anniversary, it embodies over a hundred-year old history and tradition. A few years ago, there were efforts to conduct an in-depth study on the roots and development of cavalry and armor in the Philippines. The absence of scholarly publications and literature on this topic made work even more difficult.

This treatise, however, attempts to fill into the void and the effort puts premium to the historical endeavor towards an auspicious evolution.
