KALASAG TROOPER HONORED
FOR HONESTY
S7 Section, 5LAB
PRIDE OF A KALASAG TROOPER.
Corporal Eduardo
N.Samson (Cav)PA
was awarded the Plaque of Recognition for his outmost honesty in
the service (a virtue hardly observed nowadays).
MAJ JACINTO J LICAY (CAV) PA, Officer-in– Charge of 5LAB
personally honored Cpl Samson by giving the Plaque of Recognition as
simple way of showing the units gratitude for the exemplary deed. The
awarding was done last 27 May at 5LAB Multipurpose Hall, Camp Edilberto
P. Evangelista in Cagayan De Oro City.
THE STORY THUS
FAR.
On
14 May 2010,
during the swimming competition held at the
swimming pool of 4th
Infantry Division , Cpl Samson found a cellular phone pouch containing
bus tickets and money amounting to
Two Thousand One Hundred
Pesos(P2,100.00).Without
second thought, he immediately announced through the Public Address
System regarding the lost and found items. However, even after the
competition had been through, no one had come to claim the items that
were found.
On the following day, Cpl Samson coordinated with
MAJ CRUEL (CS), Post
Catholic Chaplain of 4ID to announce in his daily
mass regarding the lost and found items. The act was done to let
the owner informed. Still, after a week of waiting nobody has come to
claim the lost items.
Instead of keeping the lost items, Cpl Samson
decided to donate the money to the Church through MAJ CRUEL, who thanked
the Lord not for the donated
amount but for the person who exemplified true essence of honesty. Much
more for having a generous heart jibed with the virtue of charity.
The recognition accorded to Cpl
Samson was witnessed by the
organic personnel of 5LAB and their dependents. In his message,
MAJ LICAY stressed
that the commendable act exemplified by Cpl. Eduardo N. Samson is indeed
worthy of emulation. The Officer-in-Charge concluded his speech with
this thought-provoking statement: “We only live once; but once is enough
if we make it right”.
An honest man deserves to be rewarded; in recognition to
his honorable act Cpl Eduardo N Samson together with the Officers and
Enlisted personnel of 5LAB
are very much grateful to this noble act.
