Assumption Speech of  BGEN CARLOS E LUCES AFP

As the 3rd Commander, Light Armor Division, Philippine Army

Change Of Command Ceremony, Light Armor Division, Philippine Army

Light Armor Division Parade Ground, Camp O’Donnell, Capas, Tarlac 221000H MAY 2010

Today, I am privileged to lead as the 3rd Division Commander of the lone Philippine Army Light Armor Division. Having been designated, as the Division Commander, I will carry out this mandate with great enthusiasm because this is a rare opportunity to excel by fully serving the interest of the Light Armor Division in accord with that of higher headquarters.

To realize this kind of service requires the collective effort of every men and women of the Division, especially the Unit Commanders, the members of the General and Special Staff, and the Senior NCO’s of this Division. Thus, I urge everyone to join me to continue in this advocacy for genuine service. At the end of the day, it is the Team Armor that will come into play to carry out the various undertakings of the unit. Of course, the support of Headquarters Philippine Army is another thing I am earnestly looking forward to. Likewise, I will continue to appreciate the formal working relations with the civilian benefactors and friends of this organization.

After more than a year as the Assistant Division Commander, I feel that the best move at this early stage of my incumbency is to build on what were initiated or established by my predecessors, on matters like the policy direction, equipment and facility development programs and other schemes currently in place that continue to be beneficial to the organization. As desired, this unit should be able to contribute to the overall mission of the Philippine Army by continually being responsive, reliable, and relevant armored force in whatever circumstances based on our Armor Creed, “We will do it the best way we can.” I for one, will endeavor to achieve this with the best of my commitment.

Finally, I would like to formally express my gratitude to the people who helped me reached this stage of my career in the persons like MGEN SAMUEL D NARCISE AFP and mam Babet who had all been so supportive, considerate and kindhearted big brother and sister. In fact, the influence comes not only in my official function as Assistant Division Commander but also in terms of the spiritual, social and physical. My gratitude also goes to LTGEN REYNALDO B MAPAGU AFP who provided me the opportunities for career advancement – initially at the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Educations and Training, OJ8 at the GHQ and here today at the Light Armor Division. To the other people whom I need not mention, I owe them so much, including my classmates and my wife Olive who is celebrating her Wedding Anniversary with me 28 years ago today, May 22. But most of all, I owe this to God, the Almighty.

Sa inyo pong lahat, maraming maraming salamat!
